Turkish Journal of Diaspora Studies is an academic peer-reviewed journal published twice a year. The aim of the journal is to publish both quantitative and qualitative articles on diaspora, migration and related topics that provide original contributions and breakthroughs on related topics.

The journal's objective is to disseminate pioneering works to the existing literature from a range of related disciplines, including Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, and Economics, among others.

The journal is open access and is cited in the Ebsco, International Political Science Abstracts, Index Islamicus, ERIC Plus and DOAJ indexes. It invites submissions from scholars.

We are happy to share the first issue of the fifth volume of TJDS with you. Four research articles and two book reviews are published in this issue. Şevval Çoklar Aksu and Damla Bayraktar Aksel, examines Türkiye’s policies towards the Turkish diaspora in the United States. The second article, written by Zeyneb Güşta Arık, explores the Turkish diaspora in France with regard to gender roles, religion and cultural identity. The third article, authored by Moh Asmahil Kohan, analyzes Türkiye’s current migrant structure through the cases of Syrians and Afghans. The final research article in this issue, written by Hilal Erol, analyzes the identity construction processes of Afghan asylum seekers in Turkey. In addition, you can find two book reviews written by Sueda Nur Ünsal and Ebru Bayramoğlu.
