Vol. 5 No. 2 (2025): Turkish Journal of Diaspora Studies

The new issue of the Turkish Journal of Diaspora Studies (TJDS) has been published.

This issue features four research articles and two book reviews. The contributions offer interdisciplinary perspectives on current debates in migration and diaspora studies.

In the first research article, Mawahib Khalil M. Hassan examines the experiences of Syrian refugee women with intimate partner violence across the pre-war, displacement, and asylum periods in Türkiye. Süreyya Sönmez Efe, in the second article, explores refugee women’s access to maternal health services in Türkiye through the lens of the ecological model of health, presenting significant findings for health policy. The third article, authored by Dirk Tröndle, revisits the multifaceted dynamics of Germany–Türkiye migration relations, taking as a case study the German construction workers employed in Ankara during 1924–1925. The final article, by Süleyman Furkan Çobankara, discusses the right to vote abroad within the context of democratic participation and analyzes the issue of “democratic boundaries” with reference to the case of Türkiye.

In the book review section, Şevval Nur Acuner evaluates the volume Zorunlu Göç Deneyimi ve Toplumsal Bütünleşme: Kavramlar, Modeller ve Uygulamalar ile Türkiye, written by Ahmet İçduygu ve Saime Özçürümez (The Experience of Forced Migration and Social Integration: Concepts, Models, and Practices in Türkiye), while Hassina Azizi reviews Sürekli Göç, Kente Uyum, Kimlik ve Din: Zeytinburnu Afganistan Özbekleri authored by Ensar Göçmez (Continuous Migration, Urban Adaptation, Identity and Religion: The Afghan Uzbeks of Zeytinburnu). Both reviews provide fresh perspectives on debates concerning migration, identity, social cohesion, and integration.
