Migrants, like other individuals, possess a relatively stable identity prior to migration; however, relocating from one place to another can lead to the reconstruction and transformation of their identities. The book titled Continuous Migration, Urban Integration, Identity, and Religion: The Case of Afghan Uzbeks in Zeytinburnu, based on Ensar Göçmez’s doctoral dissertation submitted to Erciyes University, examines the experiences of Afghan Uzbeks who, following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, initially migrated to Ovakent in Hatay and subsequently to the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul. The study aims to explore the urban integration processes of Uzbeks who moved from Ovakent to Zeytinburnu for individual, voluntary, and economic reasons; to analyze how they construct their identities; and to identify the factors influencing these processes. It also offers a comparative analysis of their adaptation and identity formation experiences in Ovakent and their subsequent experiences in Zeytinburnu.
