Abstract
Diasporas present rich material in language studies when considered in political and social fields. One of the main reasons for this is that language is an identity carrier. The relationship of diasporas with the motherland is basically established with their mother tongue. On the other hand, it is important for social integration that diaspora residents learn the language of the country of residence from the perspective of the country of residence. Therefore, language policies developed for diasporas and accordingly mother tongue education opportunities are important. The results of these policies and opportunities raise important research questions on bilingualism, language relations, culture, and language transfer in a broader perspective. For example, when the Turkish diaspora is considered in particular, it is one of the important questions that what kind of results the policies implemented by the country of residence towards Turkish diaspora, which continues its existence in various countries, have caused or will cause. In this context, Teaching Turkish Abroad as a Mother Tongue, prepared under the editorship of Büşra Süverdem, is a remarkable study because it deals with the current situation of Turkish teaching.
